What’s a Sprinternship?
A Sprinternship is an opportunity for you to bring a team of five UIC undergraduates into your workplace for three weeks in May. Sprinternships are open to women (cis and trans) and nonbinary individuals who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors at UIC.
This quick (hence the sprint!) and immersive paid internship experience gives students résumé experience that makes them more competitive when applying for summer internships. It gives you a chance to build your talent pipeline and advocate for gender equity in the Chicago tech world.
Our 2021 Sprinternships will run from May 10 to 28.
April 1: Participating organizations meet their May 2021 Sprinterns
May 10: Sprinternships begin
July 15: Info session for organizations seeking to host Sprinterns in May 2022 (if your organization is interested in participating in a future program cycle, please sign up here)

This brief PDF explains what Sprinternships are, shows how the experience benefits students and host organizations, and outlines how you can customize the experience to work best for your organization.
For organizations offering Sprinternships, this workbook provides additional information on designing a challenge project: examples, ideal levels of difficulty, and a sample hour-by-hour timeline for each week.
If you’re advancing gender diversity in tech by offering a Sprinternship, let’s tell the world — together! This media kit will help your organization and Break Through Tech Chicago to coordinate on publicity and outreach.
